Changes to long service leave (Victoria)
9-January-2019
As of 1 November 2018, the Victorian government has made significant changes to the laws about long service leave. Long service leave can now be taken as leave after 7 years employment rather than 10 years.
Also certain periods of leave without pay – such as parental leave and leave for illness or injury – are now counted as service when calculating the long service leave entitlement.
Casual and seasonal employees may also be entitled to long service leave even if there has been a break of more than 12 weeks between engagements in certain circumstances.
